day jobs suck

Friday morning meeting: 9 logos knocked down with 1 logo holding possibilities.
3 weeks into the project: nearly 80 taglines presented, client shoots them all down.
10 people at the table and only 1 opinion really matters.
Tagline becomes a series of standard nouns rotated.
Logo becomes a circle with type set simply.
But they said they wanted something different and edgy; fresh and young.
Corporate people really do live in a different world.
Clothing from Banana Republic considered edgy.
Opinions counter to the VP considered different.
Asian women perpetually considered fresh and young.
WTF!
When will my art pay for itself?
Day jobs suck even if you set your own hours.
There was a time when I thought I could redesign the world in Futura Light.

It’s really great when the client keeps pushing for changes, misses their deadline, blames it on you for “lack of professionalism”, then THROWS A FIT IN YOUR OFFICE.

Be a liberal. Apply fire liberally.
