Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Soil by Group, From 1980 to 2005, According to FBI database

From Loonwatch: All Terrorists are Muslims… Except the 94% that Aren’t summarizes an updated FBI report of terrorist acts on US soil. As you can see for yourself from the above pie graph, among the counter-stereotypical results are: 1) Only 6% of the terrorist acts on US soil in the period covered were committed by Muslims. 2) In fact, slightly more terrorist acts were committed by Jewish groups. And finally, 3) the largest category of groups associated with acts of terrorism in the US is apparently Latino! (although this includes both far-right anti-Castro terrorist groups and left-leaning pro-Puerto Rican independence groups)

Also CNN recently reported in Study: Threat of Muslim-American terrorism in U.S. exaggerated the results of a study funded by the Department of Justice which looks at how to prevent the radicalization of Muslim youth in America. And finally, Stephen M. Walt gives one of the more candid answers to the “Why Do They Hate Us?” question in his article: Why they hate us (ii): How many Muslims has the US killed in the past 30 years?

As if you didn’t have enough reasons to hate  ‘Twilight.’ As if it’s not bad enough that the main vampirical dude is a total stalker. As if it’s not bad enough that the female lead is a complete weakling reliant on an obsessively possessive relationship. As if we haven’t had enough of the same ol’ twisted heterosexual white relationship veiled as some kind of universal epic love story. The whole ‘Twilight’ series is bullshit and it doesn’t help that white writers continue to appropriate at the expense of native peoples. And it sucks that millions are buying into all of it.

According to the NYT: It’s important to point out that the outside uses of the Quileute name, from the “Twilight” books to the tattoo jewelry, are quite likely legal. American intellectual property laws, except in very specific circumstances, do not protect indigenous peoples’ collective cultural property. In fact, many businesses use tribal names without involving the Indians themselves. Consider, for example, well-known products like Jeep Cherokee trucks, Oneida flatware and Apache helicopters — none of which are officially associated with Indian tribes. (The Quileute say they have never been contacted by Ms. Meyer or any of those who use the Quileute name for merchandising.)

Performance Art is so coming back! Karin Dreijer Andersson of Fever Ray receives the prize for the years best dance artist at “P3 Gold” in Gothenburg. This acceptance speech/performance blows Lady Gaga out of the water. This woman has a melting face underneath her veil. Now i’m not sure if this commentary is related to the French ban on burqa’s but whatever it is she’s got balls!

I love the mood and artistry behind Fever Ray’s videos. Somehow I am imagining these to be the creative result if Bjork went on a date with David Bowie in the world of The Dark Crystal. check out Fever Ray videos.
